birthdays and movies

My birthday was Saturday. HOORAY! Meagan surprised me with a new TV last week (which certainly was the total high point of my week after losing my luggage twice, having a flight cancelled, and losing a hotel reservation). The weekend held more cheer with sushi on Friday, delicious beer on Saturday, and the Fantasy Football draft on Sunday. What could make such a weekend better, you ask? Midnight Madden. That's right, Madden 2007 comes out tomorrow. I plan on waiting in line at midnight with Christ. Hooray. I love being in Atlanta. Campus has all kinds of energy as all the young ones move in. You can see the silly sorority wannabees waiting in line at odd hours of the morning looking strangely copied from one another. God even graced us with the obligatory move-in downpour. But now on to what really matters, my favorite movies of this year.

I can basically narrow it down to three: Munich, Talladega Nights, and Little Miss Sunshine. Munich came out in early January, so I almost forgot about it, but it made me like Eric Bana again which, after The Incredible Hulk, stands as a difficult accomplishment. Talladega Nights is the only movie in recent memory that I've seen twice in theaters. Hilarious and quotable. What more could you ask for? Finally, Little Miss Sunshine. This movie was amazing, five stars hands down. Steve Carrell made me laugh and the family's interactions with one another were priceless.

Otherwise, My Super Ex-Girlfriend sucked (even with Rainn Wilson), the new Pirates movie underdelivered like a classic "second movie in a trilogy", and DaVinci was alright. I haven't seen V for Vendetta yet and I'm excited about The Last Kiss with Zach Braff. That's my movie manifesto so far. Hope ya hate it.

What can I say? It didn't show up on spellcheck. It was raining so hard, Christ would have been a good person to go with. Walking and water and whatnot. Nevermind.

God is a football fan, and so is his son.

I'm definately going to be interested to see Little Miss Sunshine. Steve Carrell has become one of my favorite actors quickly. I heard the writing was excellent for the movie too.
