automobile stupidity

More on my horrific travel weekend and amazing fiance in later posts, but right now I need to talk about stupid people. I went to Chick-Fil-A for lunch today (They invented the chicken sandwich, you know.), and saw one of those House Divided vanity license plates on a gas-guzzling SUV. Normally I would ignore such a plate, however this one drew my eye. On the left side sat that familiar ugly red G for U[sic]GA. Opposite it on the right sat the almost equally ugly F adorned with Native American feathers and whatnot representing FSU. Let there be no mistake, these two schools sit alone atop my personal Most Hated College Sports Teams Ever list.

What's stupid about this plate is that these two schools are not rivals. The House Divided plate is reserved for rivalries like UF/FSU, GT/UGA, UM/OSU, Bama/Auburn, and Army/Navy. I'm not even sure if those two teams have played before. I'm sure they have, but they're certainly not rivals. They're not even in the same conference. I might as well go out and get a Providence/Arizona State license plate or a Tulane/Miami(FL) plate (dig deep for the irony, folks). I think people are taking this a little too far. Just get a bumper sticker, or even a flag.

very much agreed. I mean, UGA is allowed 3 schools on their list of 'House Divided' plates.... UF, Tennessee, and Ga Tech. That's it.

Btw, the 'hurricane' irony is nice... subtle. You should have almost said nothing at all.

I might throw Auburn in there for UGa, but FSU is total crap.

Oh come on! All of us at FSU just hate Georgia! What a rivalry!

Right...

Anyway, they have played. The last time was in the 2003 Sugar Bowl. Remember? Chris Rix "slept through a final" (actually, he was failing the class, but the cover story shifted all the blame on him and none on the university), we had already lost our backup QB to a check fraud scandal, so we had one of our WRs at QB. Yeah, it was ugly.

Oh, BTW Eric, your hate only makes us stronger. Can't wait to chew you up next season.
